Empowering Women in Tech: Aedon.Accounting’s Partnership with Supermums
Published:16 May 2024
At Aedon.Accounting, we are incredibly proud to announce our new partnership with Supermums, a dynamic charity committed to helping women – and some men – with children transition into the tech industry. This collaboration allows us to provide Supermums’ alumni with access to our accounting software, which integrates seamlessly with Salesforce, as a powerful training tool to enhance their administrative skills.
Supermums, led by the inspirational Heather Black, is a remarkable initiative. Heather is a true force of nature and a Salesforce MVP, and her dedication to increasing the presence of women in tech is nothing short of inspiring. As someone who has two very smart daughters, I find it illogical that more girls, who excel in maths and other STEM subjects, aren’t pursuing careers in technology. Supporting Supermums aligns perfectly with my personal and professional values, as it addresses the significant gender gap in the tech industry.
The statistics are startling: although women make up half of the UK workforce, they represent only 17% of tech workers. This disparity is even more pronounced in senior roles, where women hold just 10% of positions. Our partnership with Supermums aims to change this narrative by providing women with the tools and training they need to succeed in tech.
As part of our sponsorship, we have developed specialised training materials to help Supermums’ alumni pass the Admin 201 Certification exam, a crucial step toward becoming a Salesforce Administrator. Joel Quick, our Customer Success Manager, has done an excellent job creating these materials to ensure participants can build, then reinforce, their newly acquired skills. Our goal is to offer a comprehensive training program that includes creating simple flows, adding custom fields, and generating reports and dashboards using Aedon.Accounting as the platform.
The Supermums training program is a 15-week course designed to prepare women for the challenging Admin 201 Certification exam. After passing the exam, participants can practice their skills in a sandbox environment using our software. This hands-on experience is essential because it helps bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application.
Supermums also organizes placements with charities, giving alumni the opportunity to gain practical experience while they search for full-time administrative roles. Securing the first job in admin is often the hardest part, and this partnership provides a platform for these talented women to showcase their skills and gain the experience they need to advance in their careers.
We at Aedon.Accounting are committed to supporting Supermums in their mission to empower women in tech. By providing both the training and software necessary to succeed, we aim to see 200-300 Supermums alumni go through the training program each year. Together, we can help create a more inclusive and diverse tech industry.
