HMRC VAT Authorisation
As Aedon is an HMRC Recognised financial package for VAT, which allows you to submit your VAT return directly from Aedon making it a simple to complete and easy to check, audit and finalise your return before submitting it.
Before you can start submitting VAT Returns, you need to Authorize Aedon as your VAT software with HMRC. This involves connecting with your Government Gateway Account via Aedon. The authorisation will last for 18 months.
Once you have completed the Authorisation process, on all the HMRC screens you will see a green broadcast symbol confirming that you are Authorised with HMRC.
Government Gateway Details
You will need your Government Gateway ID and Password for each Company that you manage for the Authorisation Process. Contact your Financial Adviser, if you do not have these details.
Step-by-Step Process
Confirm the VAT Details
- From the Admin Menu, select Companies and select the relevant company.
- Check that the Tax Legislation, VAT Registration Number (without spaces or the GB prefix)VAT Method and VAT Period are all correct (these were set up for
Connect to HMRC via the Government Gateway
- At the top right of the page, click the Authorise HMRC button.
- Click Sign in to HMRC.
- This will open in a new tab on the GOV.UK website, Click Continue.
- Click Sign in to Government Gateway.
- Enter your Government Gateway ID Details for the company in which you are connecting to Aedon.
- Click Give Permission.
- The pop-up box will close, and you should return to the Aedon webpage.
- Click Okay.
HMRC will provide an authorisation token which lasts 18 months. You will be able to see the date it was created.
Once you have completed the Authorisation process, on all the HMRC screens you will see a green broadcast symbol confirming that you are Authorised with HMRC.
