Overriding Tax and Net Amounts on Transaction Lines
Updated 31 October 2026
Aedon.Accounting works out each line’s net amount and VAT from the quantity, unit price, discount and tax rate. Occasionally you need a different figure, for example to match a supplier’s invoice exactly when their VAT is rounded differently. You can override the Net Transaction Amount and Tax Payable on any line of a draft transaction.
Override a line amount
- Open the draft transaction, such as a sales or purchase invoice.
- In the line items, scroll to the right to the Net Transaction Amount and Tax Payable columns(1).
- Enter the correct amount.
- Click the save icon(2) above the line items.

Check the totals
After saving, check the invoice’s gross amount against the original document before you post it. Only change the VAT when the document you’re recording shows a different figure; the VAT return uses the amounts you post.
You can only change lines while the transaction is a draft. To change a posted transaction, unpost it first.
